Cabo san lucas b.c.s

Well, it has taken us about a week to get here to begin the purpose of our trip, but as you see we have had a great time just getting here.  Edgar has many family here and our intent was to let him enjoy them as much as he wants without having to worry about Linda and I while we are here.  Edgar is not having it and we had a great time meeting all his relatives and our experiences with them.  What a great crew.

Our RV park is about 1 mile from downtown.  Vagabundos RV Park was one of the best in Cabo during the day, with a pool, bar, restaurant, 50amp service and many other amenities. There was a hurricane that hit Baja in 2012 and wiped the place out.  The owner sold off half of the park and reclaimed the other half.  There are only about 10 spots now, the pool bar and restaurant never opened again.  There are almost no RV parks in Cabo San Lucas and we were lucky to get the spaces.  Once again, The Edgar family connections came thru and we had the whole park to ourselves.  We did not see many RV while e were in Cabo, there are probably many reasons for that, or they are all stopping at Loreto and La Paz which are much calmer cities.

Before the Storm

After the Storm!

ants@#$%^&

Funny thing happened while staying at the park, we had an ant problem.  I had run out of the trusty ant killer I always kept in the coach, so I ran down to the local Home Depot and bought a replacement I am sure you could only get in Mexico.  Oh, did I mention all the major cities, Loreto, La Paz and Cabo have Walmart, Costco and Home Depot stores.  They look and are stocked exactly the same and if it wasn’t for all the boxes being in Spanish, you would think you were in CA.

Anyway, back to the ants.  I sprinkled the stuff around the tires and the next morning we had a surprise.  The ants had rolled all the poison into little groups and organized them all.  I didn’t believe it, so I mixed them all up and again in the morning they were all organized again! There was a little less poison each day, and no ants. Bizarre!

The ants go marching

First Day at the Office

As you can tell, this is not a normal office. Our tour guide Edgar once again came thru with a beautiful breakfast on the beach looking at Lands End. Food was great and view is spectacular. The Office is right on the water and owned by an American. Best breakfast in Cabo, and you can’t beat the view.

Next we separated from Edgar and Cuca and they went off to visit with family and Linda and I began exploring the sites of Cabo.  We had been to Cabo before but really didn’t do much sight seeing.  I won’t bore you with all the shopping pics and video, Linda had many of those excursions, Me, not so much. Here is Linda getting a fish pedicure.

Great food and shopping at the marina

The food was great everywhere we went.  At the marina there are numerous restaurants and shops and some of us can spend hours looking around. We stopped for lunch at a place called “WTF”. Linda wanted to know why they put Wednesday, Thursday, Friday on her burger. Really. The burgers were very very good and the desert was exceptional, I’m sure it was sugar free. We did not have a bad meal anywhere, with one exception.  At the most expensive restaurant of our visit the food was terrible, there was a fire on the balcony and the bugs were flying in from an open door. The ambiance was great, too bad they couldn’t get the portions right.  This was at the Nautilus Restaurant at the Resort.

Nekas resturant

So, we spent the morning with a very nice relative of Edgar’s (remember there are many all over the city) and she owned a cute little restaurant off the beaten path.  The dish you see in front of me is her version of banana pancakes.  It’s a large waffle with a banana split on top! Needless to say that was not on my Keto diet. We had a great time here.

Off to the Beach

Next it was off the beach with family and friends.  This is not the normal tourist beach in Cabo.  You drive your vehicles up to the waterline, pitch your covers, drag out the wood, start a fire and cook some fish.  Lots of other food as well, everyone brought something.  My Honey Smoked Salmon was a real hit, not the kind of fish they get down there often. The picture doesn’t do the WOK justice.  It was about 2 feet across and filled with a gallon of veg oil.  Please note the fish heads and tails in with the other tidbits.  My first time eating fish head, and it was excellent.  Not sure why we throw them away in the states. Cooking and eating went on for hours.  Lots of relaxing. There was fishing going on right next to where we were swimming, not something you would see on our beaches, and one guy caught a puffer fish which he started cleaning.  I thought puffer fish were poison? Maybe not here in CABO.

Beach Party

Villa de arco

These are some pictures of Villa del Arco, not a bad place with a great pool.  The pirate ship in the pool is a nice touch. It’s bigger than it looks.
